A solar chimney is a clever design that uses solar heat to cool a house in hot summer. This sounds too good to be true. But you know that a basement is always cooler in the summer. A solar chimney takes advantage of this fact. It uses solar heating to create a convective loop of air flow that draws the cooler air from underground into a room. The following simulation shows this.
